Toko food
I went to a Surinamese Toko, calles Avtar store, for this assignment. We had to buy two products we didn't know about yet. So I bought banana chips and tamarind.
At first I felt stupid for not knowing there was banana chips. It did not sound logical to me, because chips is made of patatoes. I assumed this and in my disclipine assumptions are killing. Nevertheless, it is good to be astonished once in a while.
I bought the Tamarind, because it looks like candy. I can tell you it does not taste like it! Apparently this is a tropical fruit, which grows in a tree. In Southeast Asia it is even used for medicinal uses.
At first I tasted it myself. The banana chips were quite fatty. I am a difficult eater, but appart from the fattieness it did not have a real taste to it. I expected the taste of bananas, but this was not the case. The Tamarind was not making my day better. At first it tastes sweet and then there is this distinctive sour taste to it.
After I tasted it myself, I let my parents and one friend taste it. The looks on all of there faces was rather funny. They disliked the Tamarind. The banana chips was not new to them and they liked the taste of it.
