Fieldtrip Amsterdam

As an introduction we went to Amsterdam. The assignment was: gather things that stand out to you. Make pictures and try to combine then is a subject. As it was the first time I have meat this group of people, there was a lot of talking. We gathered 23 photo’s in total. Not as much as I’m used to take. If you really look at what you are seeing everything can stand out.

There were a few photo’s that really caught my attention though.

The last picture I wanted to share is this one. Yes that’s right. It is a man with a chair on his head. He walks al around the city with this chair on his head. The reason I have taken this picture is because he is doing something different. That is the reason he stands out. The chair is upside down. That lead me to think, maybe we should all do things differently.  Maybe we should think outside our own little world. I believe we don’t even make it to the end of our sun if we don’t change. Let alone survive it.

This mushroom caught my attention. It was in a courtyard in the middle of Amsterdam. Creating a peaceful space in a very busy city like Amsterdam is interesting by itself.  It tells us that there is a need for nature and its peacefulness.  People these days are so busy and stressed that a retrieve is desired.

The desire of nature goes beyond peace and quietness. Mother nature is an inspiration for modern technologies. She has created everything and is THE best at doing so. Companies are now realizing that there are a lot of answers to find in nature. Biomimicry is an upcoming phenomena that we will soon see more and more.

The first thing that caught my eye was this boathouse. The thought of living on the water is an interesting thing. If we can decently live on water why not in it. This boat is partly under water but why not completely in it. We know there is going to be more people on this earth. Villages will become cities and that is a problem for the agriculture. With less space for agriculture and more mouths to feed we are going to have a shortage of food. Imagine what this does for the economy.

Besides land, there is a lot of water on this earth. If we only use the land to live on there is going to be a problem. Living under water could be a solution. I am not seeing we all have to become mermaids. Just that we have to anticipate on what is going to happen in the future.

The second thing that caught my eye was the embassy of Mars. It is a gallery for outer space art. The sign interested me. Whether we can manage to live under water or not, that is not our only option. Mabey we can live beyond the earth. We know our sun will die eventually. At first it is going to get really hot on earth. Then it is going to get really cold. Both of these climates are deadly to humans. This is another problem we need to solve in order to sustain humanity.  Moving to another planet could do the trick. There are already companies that are developing a one way trip to mars. Like the earth Mars will not survive the death of the sun. The possibility of humans living in space is interesting though.
